Jobs and the Economy

Dave has worked hard to strengthen the economy and bring jobs to the region. His most important success was as part of the team that convinced the Boeing Company to build the 787 in Everett. Not only will this mean thousands of jobs in the long run, but it will also insure that Boeing continues to make Snohomish County a key manufacturing center.

Dave has also:

• Strongly supported the building of the necessary infrastructure: roads, transit, surface water systems, etc. that will support a strong economy.
• Supported the efforts of the Economic Development Council to successfully bring new businesses to Snohomish County including the bio-tech company Berlex and the aerospace company Messier Bugotti.
• Worked with business, labor, and citizens to design a strategic economic plan to guide the region for the future as a member of the Economic Development District Board.
• Promoted the international trade that is so vital to this region's economy as a member and officer of the Board of the Trade Development Alliance.
• Helped to streamline the permitting system in Snohomish County, eliminating unnecessary delays. Many simple permits can now be applied for and issued on-line.
• Supported the efforts of the county organized Public Facilities District. The Everett Events Center, Lynnwood Convention Center, Edmonds Performing Arts Center, and Paine Field/Boeing Future of Flight facility are important economic development projects that were funded.
